How to Start Your Own Web Page

Take each of these numbers one step at a time and you will be on your way to making money off of your new web page!

1.Choose a theme- Decide what you want the web page to be about! Choose something that interests you, something that you are passionate about and that you know a lot of information about.

2. Think of a domain name- ( www. breastmilkbaby .com is ours) Make your domain name likable and catchy! Once you've decided on your name make sure that it is available and does not already exist. (You can do this by typing it in and seeing if the page works already.) Many hosting companies offer a domain name for free if you purchase your web hosting through them.

3. Design your website- First write out your design on paper. Then, you can either purchase programs to make your website yourself or have some else do it for you. We use Microsoft Frontpage, which may already be on your computer. There are also hosts that have programs, once you've signed up with them, that will help you design your website. Start collecting content about your theme. Search engines pull up websites with lots of content. Not into doing it yourself? Hire someone to do it for you! 4. Choose a host- They are the company that "displays" your website on the Internet for you.
Here are a few that we recommend:

Hostgator: Do you think you will want more than one web page?  This host offers unlimited website hosting for only $9.99 a month! This is great if you are even thinking about having 2 websites. They have 24/7 customer support.

Bluehost : Do you want to sell products?  This host is perfect for you because they offer a free ecommerce/shopping cart!  Web pages start at $6.95. Host up to 6 domains on one account. They have 24/7 customer support and valuable free reports such as how you rank in the search engines! We chose to use BlueHost for our web page. We called them up on the phone to inquire about there package and found out right away that they had great customer service! They were even there to help us in the wee hours of the night!

Ipower: We highly recommend this one for beginners! It is a great hosting program. It starts at $3.95. You get up to $100 worth of free advertising credits. There is a free domain name privacy on all accounts.

5. Begin making money-   A great places to start is pay per click with Google AdSense.

You will also want to apply to affiliate programs that relate to your products. (Some will pay you if they sell so meting via the link on your site and some will pay you monthly to display there ad on your site.) Make sure the affiliate ads relate to your web site. Your visitors do not want to visit your site and see advertisements that have nothing to do with your site itself.

6. Promote your new site!

1. Go to Google and ask them to add your page to their database for free!

2. You or your webmaster can a Meta tag to your web page so that search engine spiders will find it.

3. Add your website (www. yourwebsitename. com) to your email signature page. This way, every time you send out and email the recipient will find out about your web page.

4. Use your free advertising money if your host gives you some, most hosts give you an allotted amount, such as $50 towards yahoo search and $50 towards google search.

5. Find webrings on the internet that relate to your site and add your web page to them!

6. Place a free small business add on www.craigslist.com .

7. E-mail your close friends and tell them about your new site!
